The Importance of Self Care

The body says what words cannot. – Martha Graham

Let’s get this straight from the start, I am a city gal.  I’m accustomed to the constant racket that is New York City.  I benefit from the mostly uncomplicated yet, sometimes infuriating MTA subway system.  Also, having a grocery store on every corner is super convenient.  It’s easy to take these things for granted because half the time you’re complaining about the very things that ease routine.  Anywho, I just got back from a weekend at Vermont.  I must say I discovered a little country girl inside me.  Let’s not get ahead of ourselves.  It was only one weekend.  I barely had cell phone service.  I paid less attention to my gadgets and just sat back and enjoyed my surroundings.  I wouldn’t necessarily say I’m a nature girl but I really enjoyed being outdoors surrounded by trees, rivers and FRESH air for once.  I needed a lil time-out from city hustle and bustle to recharge my batteries.  That’s exactly what I did.  I got a pedicure/foot massage and relished the outdoors.  My point is to remind everyone that self care should be a top priority.  Boy do I understand responsibilities and daily routine but if you forget “me time”, you’ll burn out.  All in all, I think Vermont is a wonderful place to visit.  The sense of community spirit in the small town of Pittsville is warm and apparent to any newcomer.  That friendliness from neighbors is rarely seen in big cities.  However, my heart belongs to NYC.  Always.
Happy Monday!

Spring Ensemble

Spring Ensemble

I am totally loving these Rodarte pumps! The ankle strap design is a fun detail.  Of course, I can't afford them right now, but someday.  Of course, the budget gal inside me would never pay that much for shoes anyway.  Sigh.  The clutch called out to me...Edgy and classic.

Life is a series of phases

"Every day is a new beginning. Treat it that way. Stay away from what might have been, and look at what can be."   - Marsha Petrie Sue

Spring is a time for new beginnings, starting fresh full of possibilities.  Beginning a new project gives me butterflies...excitement with a splash of nerves.  Craving something fresh, I decided to start a life/style blog.  Browsing style blogs the last few months has been a bit of an obsession for me =} I think bloggers are creative and brave for sharing their ideas and inspiration with the world.  The conception of this blog came to mind while reading the December 2011 issue of InStyle magazine.  The beautiful clothing and photographs got me so excited.  I knew I wanted to do something creative, I just didn't know what.  My entire bookmark page on my laptop (also named Charisma) is filled with style blogs.  The blogs I read are filled with unique style and a keen eye for detail.  I daydreamed about creating one and after mucho procrastination...voila.  You'll probably see some outfit posts, beauty product reviews, quotes (I'm a fanatic) and random life thingies.  So, please wish me luck on this blogging journey...

Peace and Love,
Kay
